Flying To Cyprus

There's something about Cyprus that ensures that it continues to attract visitors from far and wide. With its warm Mediterranean climate and wonderful beach resorts, tourists continue to fly to Cyprus in huge numbers.

The island of Cyprus has experienced some political upheaval during its history and it remains very much an island divided. The northern part of the island is occupied by forces loyal to Turkey, while the southern part of the island is recognised by most of the rest of the world.

For tourists, this political split has had ramifications. Until recently, almost all visitors opted to visit the south of the island. Though things have now changed and it is possible to visit northern Cyprus, it's fair to say that the south retains its popularity.

There are a number of airlines that fly regularly from the UK to Cyprus, departing from a range of UK regional airports.

A brief scan of the internet shows that travellers willing to depart from London airports have the greatest range of options available. Lufthansa, Tarom, Thomas Cook Airlines and Austrian Airlines all operate regular scheduled flights from London to Larnaca.

Paphos, an alternative airport to Larnaca in southern Cyprus, is served by British Airways, budget operator BMI, VLM and Air Berlin, amongst others.

On arrival at one of the airports of Cyprus, you'll usually be met by a holiday company representative if you've booked using a tour operator. For independent travellers, your best bet will be to use a local bus or taxi.

Fortunately Cyprus is very much geared up to the holiday trade. This is a holiday-makers pleasure island.

So what's stopping you? Book a cheap flight to Cyprus and join in the fun!
